2011! What does it take to be a Cubs fan? Heart, you have to have heart, and and a short memory, because the Cubs will break your heart, but always come back for more. The summer of 2011 can be fantastic. We have a fireplug at the helm in Mike Quade who already flexed his managerial muscle by cutting expensive investment Carlos Silva (but when you think about it, there really is room for only two Carlos' on this team, and only one is allowed to act like a child, so sorry both of those roles are already filled). For those of you who are angry about the huge investment that we wasted on Silva might I remind you that he was brought here for the sole purpose of getting RID of Milton Bradley. In my opinion it was money well spent!
What can we expect from our 2011 Cubbies? well if you are a Die-hard fan the answer is and always will be mediocrity. Expect mediocrity, and you will either be right or pleasantly suprised. That being said everyone starts out with the same record, and anything can happen in the marathon season that is major league baseball.
What should we be excited about? With Starlin Castro and Darwin Barney playing the middle infield I believe Cubs fans can look forward to a lot of web gems this year, both of these guys have great defensive arsenal and I think they are going to get their names in the paper a lot this season.
What do we need to be successful? The Cubs utility players and bench players really need to step up this season. Blake Dewitt, Tyler Colvin, and Reed Johnson need to contribute to the cause, and the veterans need to play in the scale that they are paid.
April 1st... Summer 2011, Wrigley Field, there is no better place to be. For those that have held tough through the ups and the downs it will be sweet when the big dance happens:

Dempster was pitching a heck of a game until that grand slam ball. why did Quade let him start the next inning after he broke 100 pitch count?
